Why care products?

In aquariums - especially sea water aquariums - a variety of different organisms are living. Each has its needs and uses different substances in varying amounts.

Modern salt mixtures are equipped with a sensible combination of minerals and trace elements. But they can not meet the full demand for a long time. Even a regular water change can not ensure the supply of some minerals and trace elements in sufficient amounts for animals and plants. Trace elements are not bioavailable all the time because precipitation or oxidation changes them into an inappropriate form for animals. In the natural reef trace elements and some minerals (e.g. calcium) are provided by deep currents. In the aquarium the supply is only possibel by artificial dosing.

Some substances can be measured and dispensed accordingly to the needs. Measurable substances are calcium, bicarbonate (KH value, alkalinity) and magnesium. The tests for iodine and strontium are not satisfactory. Trace elements are only measurable by highly specialiced laboratories.

The bad and not measurable substances can be added by the aquarists only according to the given dosing instruction. At best indirect parameters like "colors of the coral" and "growth of the corals" are an indication of an optimal dosage.

And therefore care products are a matter of trust.

Fluid products or salts?

There are three basic methods to add substances to the water:

  1. The production of the substances on site with aquarium technique like calcium reactor and calcium hydroxide reactor (lime water reactor).
  2. Addition of liquid products
  3. Addition of solid salts

The advantages and disadvantages of liquid products and solid salts should be got closer here a little bit. Basically, liquid products are more complicated to manufacture and therefore more expensive. The benefits are a high dosing accuracy - especially for small aquariums and nano aquariums. You can automatically add them with metering pumps to the water and (usually) no precipitates occur during dispensing. The salts, on the other side are characterized by high efficiency, but it is important to add them at a well circulated place of the filter tank. Alternatively, the salts are dissolved separately in the refill water and then dosed. You are easily wrong with the right amount of salt - a little experience and an accurate scales should be available to prevent damages to animals.

AquaCare care products are of high quality and are used economically

All Aqua Care products are available in 250 ml and 1000 ml bottles in 5 liter containers and in a particularly economical 30-liter tanks.
For large aquariums, some care products are available as well in 5-fold concentrates.
The salts of the "Super" series are particularly economical.
The now decades-long experience speaks for our quality.
